Veterans Day and A Misunderstanding

Living in a small county of maybe 13,000, I think that in the post 9/11 wars of terror there has only been one soldier from here killed overseas. He has a memorial on the courthouse lawn and a million dollar bridge to nowhere named after him.
Now his younger brother is recovering at Walter Reed Hospital, wounded in a confusing situation in Afghanistan that is being called a ‘misunderstanding.’
Walkup was injured during a gun battle in Afghanistan this past weekend. Army officials said the American soldiers thought they were under attack by insurgents when a mortar round struck a checkpoint set up by U.S. forces. The soldiers fired upon Afghan allies who returned fire. Walkup was shot five times.
The Afghan Defense Ministry said the gun battle was the result of a “misunderstanding.”
We wish this young man well but we also have to question where the real misunderstandings lie. The misunderstandings that our soldiers are dying and being maimed for our freedoms. The parents and their children who misunderstand that our real enemies are not a half a world away but right here at home. Those enemies would be the politicians who don’t give a damn. The war contractors who profit. The bankers who finance the wars because they are their biggest money makers. The psychopaths who demand that the ends – hegemony, oil, resources, dope, Israel domination of the Middle East, etc. – justify the means.
The bottom line misunderstanding that the masses of millions have fallen for in this latest round of treason and warfare is that Arabs, Muslims attacked us on 9/11 and that we must kill them and occupy their lands before they do the same to us. The big lie of the 21st century.
Ever bury your child?
If you haven’t you really can’t understand. It changes your life forever. You will never be the same. I don’t think there is anything to compare it with and would not wish it on the worst of enemies.
To bury your child for a lie is perhaps the ultimate raping of our intelligence. Denial is the defense mechanism. Ignorance is the glue that holds the deceptions together.
Awareness and anger tempered with love are the antidotes.
Most people will not want to hear that their child died it vain. To say those words is met with verbal and even physical abuse. But as we see the flags flying and the shouts of “Heroes!” perhaps we should turn our visualizations towards the downfall of those who use our children as cannon fodder for their ambitions.
We certainly don’t hate our child soldiers. I think someone once said “Father forgive them for they know not what they do.” We just want them home. Safe and sound and an integral part of the awakening.
What we do hate are the lies and the results of them.
Our children deserve better.

that's so funny – someone tried to sell me girlscout cookies yesterday. I asked if the cookies had GMOs in them…they looked so confused. I had to explain what GMOs are. I usually always ask at my grocery store, too…and call their headquarters regularly. This is working – lots of others must be contacting them about it because this company is coming out with their own line of non-GMO foods.

I'm going to lobby the grocer I use most, Kroger, to start their own non-GMO line.I've been trying to save up enough money lately to get a bottle of legal moonshine made by our new local distillery. They use organic corn and spring water. After reading a news story about them on a local site this morning I sent an email asking them if the sugar they use is GMO with the reminder that being able to say that their 'shine' is organic and GMO free is a good selling point.
