The Alleged MLK Murder Rifle

Posted on

45 years ago today Martin Luther King was assassinated. King’s coming out against the Vietnam War was most likely his death sentence. As with John and Robert Kennedy, the agenda of the shadow government and those behind it could not allow him to live.

Middle Tennessee writer Mike Vinson has researched the MLK assassination for many years. He had the last published interview with James Earl Ray and also interviewed Ray’s brother Jerry and others connected to the case.

Below is a rare article by Vinson from 1999.

“The Alleged MLK Murder Rifle”

James Earl Ray, the convicted yet disputed assassin of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr., passed away from cirrhosis of the liver at Memorial Hospital in Nashville, Tennessee. on April 23, 1998. Prior to his death, James Earl, in his will, named his younger brother Jerry executorof his estate, making Jerry the legal recipient of James Earl’s property. Among this property is a Remington .30-06 760 Gamemaster hunting rifle, the weapon the prosecution contends Ray used to gun down King on April 4, 1968, in Memphis, Tennessee.

Brief Background

Minutes after Dr. King was shot, a bundle containing the alleged murder rifle, along with several other items, including a pair of binoculars, was found in the doorway of Canipe’s Amusement, next door to the staircase leadingup to Bessie Brewer’s flophouse, from whence the prosecution claims James Earl shot Dr. King.
The Remington .30-06 in question, mountedwith a 2X7 Redfield Scope, did have Ray’s fingerprints on it. Now, we get down to two basic theories. Each warrants consideration:

1.The prosecution’s: Ray, after he shot King from the bathroom of Bessie Brewer’s flop house, quickly wrapped the .30-06 and other items in a green bedspread (the bundle); rushed down the hallway of the flophouse; emerged from the bottom step of the staircase into the daylight of South Main Street; had a distance to walk to get to his 1966 Mustang; realized there was mass hysteria over King getting shot; saw a squad car, siren blaring; felt he would be seen carrying the bundle, identified, and apprehended; panicked and threw down the bundle in the doorway of Canipe’s Amusement. (This theory is passionately embraced by author Gerald Posner.)

2. Ray’s defense: Martin Luther King was sniped by a gunman other than Ray, using a different .30-06, fired from far away. The alleged murder rifle, with Ray’s fingerprints, was a throw-down rifle, intended to set up Ray as the fall guy.

But what about Ray’s fingerprints on the alleged murder rifle? A short review of Ray’s movements during the days leading up to King’s assassination: As you may well know, Ray claimed he was financed by and followed the instructions of a man named “Raoul,” a smuggler he met in Canada in late July-early August 1967, just a few months after he escaped from the Missouri State Penitentiary on April 23, 1967.

The last part of March 1968. Ray and Raoul. having covered a lot of territory in-between, rented a room in Atlanta. Around March 30, 1968, Ray, using the alias Harvey Lowrneyer, purchased the Remington .30-06 rifle at Aeromarine Supply in Birmingham, Alabama.

Ray had a 2X7 Redfield Scope mounted on the Remington .30-06. Don Wood, an Aeromarine Supply clerk, identified Ray as the man who purchased the alleged murder rifle. Ray claimed that on April 3, 1968, per Raoul’s instructions, he rendezvoused with Raoul at the New Rebel Hotel in Memphis. In my interview with Ray (March 25, 1998). he told me that he handed the .30-06 Remington rifle over to Raoul that day, April 3. 1968, and never saw it again.

On the afternoon of April 4, 1968, still following Raoul’s instructions, Ray met Raoul at Jim’s Grill, located below Bessie Brewer’s flophouse on South Main Street in Memphis. At this point, Raoul instructed James Earl to rent a room there. Using the alias “John Willard,” Ray rented room 5B. located in the north wing
of the of the flophouse. Charles Stephens and his common-in-law wife Grace Walden Stephens occupied the room next door, room 6B.

Dr. Martin Luther King was staying at the Lorraine Hotel and Motel. ‘As the bullet travels,” this was approximately 200 feet from the bathroom of Bessie Brewer’s flophouse. (The bathroom was commonly shared by all the tenants on the north wing.)

Ray claimed Raoul came up later and had him go buy a pair of binoculars. After Ray fetched the binoculars, Raoul told Ray to leave for a while because he (Raoul) was going to meet with an unnamed third party, and the third party might be uncomfortable with someone unfamiliar (Ray).

At approximately 6 p.m., as he stood in front of room N 306 of the Lorraine Hotel and Motel, Dr. Martin Luther King was struck between the right temple and jaw with a single .30-06 slug. He fell on the balcony, mortally wounded. (Dr. King was pronounced dead later on that evening.)

Just minutes after Dr. King was shot, the mentioned bundle, containing the alleged .30-06 murder rifle, was found in the doorway of Canipe’s Amusement.

When Ray returned to the vicinity of Bessie Brewer’s flophouse and the Lorraine Hotel and Motel, he observed that the area was flooded with police. Since he was already a fugitive from the law, he took flight. When he turned on the radio, he learned that Dr. King had been shot, and there was an all-points-bulletin for a white male in a white (actually, pale yellow). 1966 Mustang. Ray, recognizing himself from the radio’s description, high-tailed it for Atlanta. where he and Raoul had rented a room.

Once in Atlanta. Ray ditched his 1966 Mustang at the Capitol Homes Housing Project, gathered up some items, and made his way into Canada. He holed up in Canada for about a month, obtained a passport in the name of Ramon George Sneyd (misspelled “Sneya,” a mistake that would prove instrumental in his arrest), and made his way into London, England the first part of May 1968. While in England, Ray made a couple trips into Portugal, seeking (as he told me in our interview) passage into an English-speaking. African country, where he could start a new life. (Remember: Ray was 40-years-old, and had only served 7 years of a 20 year sentence—had 13 to go—when he escaped from the Missouri State Penitentiary on April 23, 1967. His future in America didn’t loom bright.).

On June 8, 1968, at London’s Heathrow Airport, as he attempted to board a flight bound for Brussels, Belgium, James Earl Ray was arrested by Scotland Yard for the murder of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.

He was extradited back to Memphis on July 19. 1968, to face charges in the murder of Dr. King. The extradition of Ray from London to Memphis rested heavily on the word of a so-called eyewitness, a known drunk, Charles Quitman Stephens. (Refer to 1998 January-Feb-ruary issue of Probe: “Grace Stephens: a Sacrificial Lamb?”)

On March 10, 1969, James Earl Ray, with the famous Percy Foreman as his lead defense counsel, signed a guilty plea in the assassination of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. He received a 99-year sentence. But consider the conditions under which Raywas jailed from July 1968 until March 1969: bright lights on him 24 hours a day (sleep deprivation); cameras on him 24 hours a day; threat of receiving the electric chair if he took his case to trial; threats of putting his father George—himself, a fugitive—back in prison; threats of arresting his brother Jerry and imprisoning him for the July 1967 Alton bank robbery (even though Jerry was never a sus-

Until his death on April 23, 1998, James Earl Ray fought unsuccessfully for a trial, a trial that Tennessee law guaranteed was his. The law, Tennessee Code Annotated 17-1-305, in essence, said: The judge who presides over the case has control for 30 days afterwards. If the convictee petitions for a trial and the reviewing judge—the judge who presided over the case—dies or is removed from office because of “insanity,” the petitioner is automatically granted a new trial. Judge Preston Battle presided over the Ray-King case; thus he had control of it for 30 days afterwards. After signing the guilty plea, March 10, 1969, James Earl Ray, on March 13, 1969, submitted a petition to Judge Battle requesting a trial. Judge Battle, while sitting at his desk. died from a heart attack on March 31.1969—within the 30 day period—before he could make a ruling on James Earl Ray’s petition. Eerily enough. Judge Battle’s head was resting on Ray’s petition papers when he was found dead.

Over the years, three ballistics tests have been conducted on the alleged murder rifle. All three have proved inconclusive, meaning, it can’t be said beyond a doubt that the death slug pulled from Dr. King’s corpse came from the alleged murder rifle, the Remington .30-06 with James Earl’s fingerprints on it.

Up until his death, James Earl Ray and his defense fought aggressively to have the alleged murder rifle re-tested, until a conclusion was reached,

Just as aggressively, the state fought against such re-testing.

Facts about the Rifle

Before James Earl Ray died, a state congressman got a bill passed through Tennessee Legislature that stated that because the rifle was used in the commission of a crime against a civil rights figure, it would go the National Civil Rights Museum, the old Lorraine Hotel and Motel, site of Dr. King’s assassination. State and federal lawmakers alike question the constitutionality of such a law as it not only deprives Jerry Ray of property legally his, but applies only to James Earl Ray.

Recently, however, the state has backed away from the civil rights law—no doubt, realizing how weak it is. Now they’re using an “abandonment law” to deny Jerry the rifle and the other items. However, there exists a legal glitch with that as well. For the abandonment law to apply to James Earl Ray (if he even shot King and threw down the bundle containing the rifle), it must be proven that he abandoned the rifle without any intention of corning back to retrieve it. If a person abandons evidence during the commission of a crime to avoid being caught with incriminating evidence, the abandonment law, as such, doesn’t apply. How so?

It can be logically argued that the culprit threw down the evidence under a state of duress and, had the opportunity existed, would have returned and recovered it. Such could be argued in the case of James Earl Ray.

Attorney Steven Wells, with the Nashville-based law firm of Lionel Barrett, currently representing Jerry Ray on this matter, has stated, “Concerning James Earl Ray allegedly abandon ing the rifle, the burden of proof rests with the state. They will have to prove he had no intention of coming back for the rifle. And there doesn’t appear to be sufficient evidence to substantiate that.”

I recently spoke with Jerry Ray about this matter. “What you have to remember is that James ‘abandoned’ his 1966 Mustang because there was an all-points-bulletin for a white male in a white, 1966 Mustang,” Jerry explained. “In the late 1980s, the state gave the Mustang back to James. If they’re going to use the abandonment law to keep me from taking possession of the rifle—and the rest of his property—why did they give the Mustang back to James? “And to show you just how wishy-washy the state is on this, take what recently happened with the King family.

Originally, the state was going to give King’s belongings—the suit he was wearing and other stuff he had with him in Memphis on the day of the assassination—to the National Civil Rights Museum. But the King family threatened to sue, and now the state has agreed to turn over [already done so, I think] those items to the family. Why is the state making a difference with me?

“I’ll tell you why!” Jerry bellowed. “The state [Tennessee] doesn’t want me to have the rifle because they damn well know I’ll have it retested until a conclusion is reached. Either the bullet that killed King was fired from the rifle with James’ fingerprints on it, or it wasn’t. If it’s ballistically proven that the fatal bullet was not fired from that rifle, somebody’s got some answering to do.”

Of course Jerry Ray is going to make such statements; he is James Earl’s brother. Let’s cast
aside the tit-for-tat arguments and look at some tangible, concrete, can’t-be-denied facts:

• As has been mentioned above, three ballistics tests have been conducted on the alleged
murder rifle over the years. All three proved inconclusive. Keep your mind on the original
one, which was conducted shortly after King’s assassination. It proved inconclusive. Don’t
wander from that finding.

• Concerning the bundle found in the doorway of Canipe’s Amusement, containing the
alleged murder rifle, did anyone (qualified personnel) even conduct any test to see whether or not the rifle had even been fired the day of King’s assassination? (Key question.)

• Then Memphis Detective Barry Linville, present at Dr. King’s autopsy, testified thatwhen Shelby County (Memphis) coroner Dr.Jerry Francisco removed the .30-06 slug from Dr. King, they (Linville and other law personnel present) felt they’d found “a piece of gold” as the land and groove markings were so distinguishable there would be no problem match ing the slug to a weapon. On a scale of “1-10, “Linville rated the slug extracted from king’scorpse a “9.” (Reference: 1993 HBO Mock trial of the Ray-King case.)

• When the death slug came back from the FBI lab, it was in 3 fragmented pieces!

In his book, Killing the Dream (footnote, page 272), Gerald Posner says he talked with the FBI agent in
charge of testing King’s death slug. Posner says the FBI agent told Posner it was typical for a bullet, such as the one removed from King, to “fragment” under certain testing. To date, I’ve spoken with 12 ballistics experts—government and civilian, big game hunters, one a world-class competitor in pistol-target-shooting—and there exists a common denominator amongst their responses to Posner’s FBI agent’s claim of it being common for such a bullet to “fragment”: “BULLSHIT!”

• Judge Joe Brown (Memphis), who presided over the Ray-King case for several years, was removed from the case in early 1998. Judge Brown, a weapons expert, was cognizant of the inconsistencies concerning the ballistics findings, enough so that he was prepared to order more tests on the alleged murder rifle, until a conclusion could be reached. The prosecution, realizing they were about to be dealt a fatal, though just, blow, went whining to the state court of appeals. The court of appeals removed Judge Brown from the Ray-King case, claiming he was biased in favor of the defense (Ray) and biased against the prosecution.

• The prosecution claims James Earl Ray, perched in the bathroom of Bessie Brewer’s flophouse. shot Dr. King as he stood in front of room # 306 of the Lorraine Hotel and Motel, approximately 200 feet “as the bullet travels. “I asked the same 12 ballistics experts what the chances were for a .30-06 slug to hit a normal male anatomy, under 200 lbs., fired from only 200 feet away, and remain in, not exit, that same anatomy. The responses ranged from “1 in 100,” to “1 in 1,000,” to “It just wouldn’t happen.” I End it hard to believe that Posner and his FBI reference—along with the rest of those who write and side with the prosecution—are correct and all those I talked to are incorrect.

Ask yourself two simple questions:

1) If James Earl Ray, indeed, shot Dr. Martin Luther King with that Remington .30-06 rifle, why did he and his defense labor so hard all those years to have the rifle re-tested?

2) If the state truly believed that was the murder rifle, why did they fight so adamantlyagainst it being re-tested? Why will the state not allow Jerry Ray to take possession of the rifle? Simply assess the facts for yourself before you draw your concluion, Go talk to some ballistics experts of your choice.

" My own mind is my own church"

Posted on Updated on

For his thoughts on religion Thomas Paine is considered everything from a genius to a heretic…and worse. In the United States, The Age of Reason initially caused a deistic “revival”, but was then viciously attacked and soon forgotten. Paine became so reviled that he could still be maligned as a “filthy little atheist” by Theodore Roosevelt over one hundred years later.

Sometimes even a ‘founding father’ gets no respect if he strays from prevailing thought. Romney misquotes Paine and Obama quotes him without mentioning his name.

It seems to me that a well rounded citizen would read Paine objectively and come to their own conclusions but ‘Common Sense’ appears to have lost much of its luster these days.

Excerpts from The Age of Reason {PDF – complete, all three parts}

I do not believe in the creed professed by the Jewish church, by the Roman church, by the Greek church, by the Turkish church, by the Protestant church, nor by any church that I know of. My own mind is my own church.

All national institutions of churches, whether Jewish, Christian or Turkish, appear to me no other than human inventions, set up to terrify and enslave mankind, and monopolize power and profit.

I do not mean by this declaration to condemn those who believe otherwise; they have the same right to their belief as I have to mine. But it is necessary to the happiness of man, that he be mentally faithful to himself. Infidelity does not consist in believing, or in disbelieving; it consists in professing to believe what he does not believe.

It is impossible to calculate the moral mischief, if I may so express it, that mental lying has produced in society. When a man has so far corrupted and prostituted the chastity of his mind, as to subscribe his professional belief to things he does not believe, he has prepared himself for the commission of every other crime. He takes up the trade of a priest for the sake of gain, and in order to qualify himself for that trade, he begins with a perjury. Can we conceive any thing more destructive to morality than this?

I believe in one God, and no more; and I hope for happiness beyond this life.

I believe in the equality of man; and I believe that religious duties consist in doing justice, loving mercy, and endeavoring to make our fellow-creatures happy.

But, lest it should be supposed that I believe in many other things in addition to these, I shall, in the progress of this work, declare the things I do not believe, and my reasons for not believing them.

When Moses told the children of Israel that he received the two tables of the commandments from the hands of God, they were not obliged to believe him, because they had no other authority for it than his telling them so; and I have no other authority for it than some historian telling me so. The commandments carry no internal evidence of divinity with them; they contain some good moral precepts, such as any man qualified to be a lawgiver, or a legislator, could produce himself, without having recourse to supernatural intervention.

When I am told that the Koran was written in Heaven and brought to Mahomet by an angel, the account comes too near the same kind of hearsay evidence and second-hand authority as the former. I did not see the angel myself, and, therefore, I have a right not to believe it.

When also I am told that a woman called the Virgin Mary, said, or gave out, that she was with child without any cohabitation with a man, and that her betrothed husband, Joseph, said that an angel told him so, I have a right to believe them or not; such a circumstance required a much stronger evidence than their bare word for it; but we have not even this — for neither Joseph nor Mary wrote any such matter themselves; it is only reported by others that they said so — it is hearsay upon hearsay, and I do not choose to rest my belief upon such evidence.

 The Music of Ezra Pound

In our time, the curse is monetary illiteracy, just as inability to read plain print was the curse of earlier centuries.”

“Music begins to atrophy when it departs too far from the dance… poetry begins to atrophy when it gets too far from music.”

Foreword to Secrets of the Federal Reserve by Eustace Mullins

In 1949, while I was visiting Ezra Pound who was a political prisoner at St. Elizabeth’s Hospital, Washington, D.C. (a Federal institution for the insane), Dr. Pound asked me if I had ever heard of the Federal Reserve System. I replied that I had not, as of the age of 25. He then showed me a ten dollar bill marked “Federal Reserve Note” and asked me if I would do some research at the Library of Congress on the Federal Reserve System which had issued this bill. Pound was unable to go to the Library himself, as he was being held without trial as a political prisoner by the United States government. After he was denied broadcasting time in the U.S., Dr. Pound broadcast from Italy in an effort to persuade people of the United States not to enter World War II. Franklin D. Roosevelt had personally ordered Pound’s indictment, spurred by the demands of his three personal assistants, Harry Dexter White, Lauchlin Currie, and Alger Hiss, all of whom were subsequently identified as being connected with Communist espionage.

I had no interest in money or banking as a subject, because I was working on a novel. Pound offered to supplement my income by ten dollars a week for a few weeks. My initial research revealed evidence of an international banking group which had secretly planned the writing of the Federal Reserve Act and Congress’ enactment of the plan into law. These findings confirmed what Pound had long suspected. He said, “You must work on it as a detective story.” I was fortunate in having my research at the Library of Congress directed by a prominent scholar, George Stimpson, founder of the National Press Club, who was described by The New York Times of September 28, 1952: “Beloved by Washington newspapermen as ‘our walking Library of Congress’, Mr. Stimpson was a highly regarded reference source in the Capitol. Government officials, Congressmen and reporters went to him for information on any subject.”

I did research four hours each day at the Library of Congress, and went to St. Elizabeth’s Hospital in the afternoon. Pound and I went over the previous day’s notes. I then had dinner with George Stimpson at Scholl’s Cafeteria while he went over my material, and I then went back to my room to type up the corrected notes. Both Stimpson and Pound made many suggestions in guiding me in a field in which I had no previous experience. When Pound’s resources ran low, I applied to the Guggenheim Foundation, Huntington Hartford Foundation, and other foundations to complete my research on the Federal Reserve. Even though my foundation applications were sponsored by the three leading poets of America, Ezra Pound, E.E. Cummings, and Elizabeth Bishop, all of the foundations refused to sponsor this research. I then wrote up my findings to date, and in 1950 began efforts to market this manuscript in New York. Eighteen publishers turned it down without comment, but the nineteenth, Devin Garrity, president of Devin Adair Publishing Company, gave me some friendly advice in his office. “I like your book, but we can’t print it,” he told me. “Neither can anybody else in New York. Why don’t you bring in a prospectus for your novel, and I think we can give you an advance. You may as well forget about getting the Federal Reserve book published. I doubt if it could ever be printed.”

This was devastating news, coming after two years of intensive work. I reported back to Pound, and we tried to find a publisher in other parts of the country. After two years of fruitless submissions, the book was published in a small edition in 1952 by two of Pound’s disciples, John Kasper and David Horton, using their private funds, under the title Mullins on the Federal Reserve. In 1954, a second edition, with unauthorized alterations, was published in New Jersey, as The Federal Reserve Conspiracy. In 1955, Guido Roeder brought out a German edition in Oberammergau, Germany. The book was seized and the entire edition of 10,000 copies burned by government agents led by Dr. Otto John.

The burning of the book was upheld April 21, 1961 by judge Israel Katz of the Bavarian Supreme Court. The U.S. Government refused to intervene, because U.S. High Commissioner to Germany, James B. Conant (president of Harvard University 1933 to 1953), had approved the initial book burning order. This is the only book which has been burned in Germany since World War II. In 1968 a pirated edition of this book appeared in California. Both the FBI and the U.S. Postal inspectors refused to act, despite numerous complaints from me during the next decade. In 1980 a new German edition appeared. Because the U.S. Government apparently no longer dictated the internal affairs of Germany, the identical book which had been burned in 1955 now circulates in Germany without interference.

I had collaborated on several books with Mr. H.L. Hunt and he suggested that I should continue my long-delayed research on the Federal Reserve and bring out a more definitive version of this book. I had just signed a contract to write the authorized biography of Ezra Pound, and the Federal Reserve book had to be postponed. Mr. Hunt passed away before I could get back to my research, and once again I faced the problem of financing research for the book.

My original book had traced and named the shadowy figures in the United States who planned the Federal Reserve Act. I now discovered that the men whom I exposed in 1952 as the shadowy figures behind the operation of the Federal Reserve System were themselves shadows, the American fronts for the unknown figures who became known as the “London Connection.” I found that notwithstanding our successes in the Wars of Independence of 1812 against England, we remained an economic and financial colony of Great Britain. For the first time, we located the original stockholders of the Federal Reserve Banks and traced their parent companies to the London Connection.

This research is substantiated by citations and documentation from hundreds of newspapers, periodicals and books and charts showing blood, marriage, and business relationships. More than a thousand issues of The New York Times on microfilm have been checked not only for original information, but verification of statements from other sources.

It is a truism of the writing profession that a writer has only one book within him. This seems applicable in my case, because I am now in the fifth decade of continuous writing on a single subject, the inside story of the Federal Reserve System. This book was from its inception commissioned and guided by Ezra Pound. Four of his protégés have previously been awarded the Nobel Prize for Literature, William Butler Yeats for his later poetry, James Joyce for “Ulysses”, Ernest Hemingway for “The Sun Also Rises”, and T.S. Elliot for “The Waste Land”. Pound played a major role in the inspiration and in the editing of these works–which leads us to believe that this present work, also inspired by Pound, represents an ongoing literary tradition.

Although this book in its inception was expected to be a tortuous work on economic and monetary techniques, it soon developed into a story of such universal and dramatic appeal that from the outset, Ezra Pound urged me to write it as a detective story, a genre which was invented by my fellow Virginian, Edgar Allan Poe. I believe that the continuous circulation of this book during the past forty years has not only exonerated Ezra Pound for his much condemned political and monetary statements, but also that it has

been, and will continue to be, the ultimate weapon against the powerful conspirators who compelled him to serve thirteen and a half years without trial, as a political prisoner held in an insane asylum a la KGB. His earliest vindication came when the government agents who represented the conspirators refused to allow him to testify in his own defense; the second vindication came in 1958 when these same agents dropped all charges against him, and he walked out of St. Elizabeth’s Hospital, a free man once more. His third and final vindication is this work, which documents every aspect of his exposure of the ruthless international financiers to whom Ezra Pound became but one more victim, doomed to serve years as the Man in the Iron Mask, because he had dared to alert his fellow-Americans to their furtive acts of treason against all people of the United States.

In my lectures throughout this nation, and in my appearances on many radio and television programs, I have sounded the toxin that the Federal Reserve System is not Federal; it has no reserves; and it is not a system at all, but rather, a criminal syndicate. From November, 1910, when the conspirators met on Jekyll Island, Georgia, to the present time, the machinations of the Federal Reserve bankers have been shrouded in secrecy. Today, that secrecy has cost the American people a three trillion dollar debt, with annual interest payments to these bankers amounting to some three hundred billion dollars per year, sums which stagger the imagination, and which in themselves are ultimately unpayable. Officials of the Federal Reserve System routinely issue remonstrances to the public, much as the Hindu fakir pipes an insistent tune to the dazed cobra which sways its head before him, not to resolve the situation, but to prevent it from striking him. Such was the soothing letter written by Donald J. Winn, Assistant to the Board of Governors in response to an inquiry by a Congressman, the Honorable Norman D. Shumway, on March 10, 1983. Mr. Winn states that “The Federal Reserve System was established by an act of Congress in 1913 and is not a ‘private corporation’.” On the next page, Mr. Winn continues, “The stock of the Federal Reserve Banks is held entirely by commercial banks that are members of the Federal Reserve System.” He offers no explanation as to why the government has never owned a single share of stock in any Federal Reserve Bank, or why the Federal Reserve System is not a “private corporation” when all of its stock is owned by “private corporations”.

American history in the twentieth century has recorded the amazing achievements of the Federal Reserve bankers. First, the outbreak of World War I, which was made possible by the funds available from the new central bank of the United States. Second, the Agricultural Depression of 1920. Third, the Black Friday Crash on Wall Street of October, 1929 and the ensuing Great Depression. Fourth, World War II. Fifth, the conversion of the assets of the United States and its citizens from real property to paper assets from 1945 to the present, transforming a victorious America and foremost world power in 1945 to the world’s largest debtor nation in 1990. Today, this nation lies in economic ruins, devastated and destitute, in much the same dire straits in which Germany and Japan found themselves in 1945. Will Americans act to rebuild our nation, as Germany and Japan have done when they faced the identical conditions which we now face–or will we continue to be enslaved by the Babylonian debt money system which was set up by the Federal Reserve Act in 1913 to complete our total destruction? This is the only question which we have to answer, and we do not have much time left to answer it.

Because of the depth and the importance of the information which I had developed at the Library of Congress under the tutelage of Ezra Pound, this work became the happy hunting ground for many other would-be historians, who were unable to research this material for themselves. Over the past four decades, I have become accustomed to seeing this material appear in many other books, invariably attributed to other writers, with my name never mentioned. To add insult to injury, not only my material, but even my title has been appropriated, in a massive, if obtuse, work called “Secrets of the Temple–the Federal Reserve”. This heavily advertised book received reviews ranging from incredulous to hilarious. Forbes Magazine advised its readers to read their review and save their money, pointing out that “a reader will discover no secrets” and that “This is one of those books whose fanfares far exceed their merit.” This was not accidental, as this overblown whitewash of the Federal Reserve bankers was published by the most famous nonbook publisher in the world.

After my initial shock at discovering that the most influential literary personality of the twentieth century, Ezra Pound, was imprisoned in “the Hellhole” in Washington, I immediately wrote for assistance to a Wall Street financier at whose estate I had frequently been a guest. I reminded him that as a patron of the arts, he could not afford to allow Pound to remain in such inhuman captivity. His reply shocked me even more. He wrote back that “your friend can well stay where he is.” It was some years before I was able to understand that, for this investment banker and his colleagues, Ezra Pound would always be “the enemy”.

Here are the simple facts of the great betrayal. Wilson and House knew that they were doing something momentous. One cannot fathom men’s motives and this pair probably believed in what they were up to. What they did not believe in was representative government. They believed in government by an uncontrolled oligarchy whose acts would only become apparent after an interval so long that the electorate would be forever incapable of doing anything efficient to remedy depredations.

(AUTHOR’S NOTE: Dr. Pound wrote this introduction for the earliest version of this book, published by Kasper and Horton, New York, 1952. Because he was being held as a political prisoner without trial by the Federal Government, he could not afford to allow his name to appear on the book because of additional reprisals against him. Neither could he allow the book to be dedicated to him, although he had commissioned its writing. The author is gratified to be able to remedy these necessary omissions, thirty-three years after the events.)

An Olympic Moment

Posted on Updated on

September 5, 1972

Eight Palestinian “Black September” terrorists seized 11 Israeli athletes in the Olympic Village in Munich, West Germany. In the rescue attempt by West German authorities, nine of the hostages, and five terrorists were killed.

Israel, and it’s Jews, are once again the victim, and the Palestinians are demons.

As so many are saying that there may be a false flag at the 2012 Zion Olympics, let’s take at look back at Munich in 1972 where by many accounts the Mossad pulled a fast one with the help of hired hands.

Perhaps as good a recap of the ‘official’ story as can be found is at wikipedia which means there will be much left out and no mention of possible Mossad involvement.

One who was alleged to be involved in the Munich event was Abu Nidal. Whether Nidal was part of the the Black September group that took the blame is debatable but the murder of those Israeli athletes was one of the best propaganda points for the Israeli side ever. Nidal had no problem killing moderate Palestinians and his acts tended to damage the Palestinian cause to Israel’s advantage so the idea that he helped plan Munich as a Mossad asset is not much of a stretch. Even if Nidal was not involved, the speculation must still be explored that others of his ilk, Palestinian traitors in service to Israel, were involved.

From “Abu Nidal: A Gun for Hire,” by Patrick Seale (pdf)

Abu Iyad, PLO Intelligence Chief….

If there was one man responsible for blackening the reputation of all Palestinian factions, it was, Abu Iyad believed, the arch-terrorist Abu Nidal.

The Israelis, Abu Iyad continued, were masters at penetration and deception. He had been sparring with the Mossad for a quarter of a century, and since the early 1980s, he had begun to suspect that the Israelis had infiltrated Abu Nidal’s organization and were making use of him. “Every Palestinian who works in intelligence,” he told me, “is convinced that Israel has a big hand in Abu Nidal’s affairs.” His suspicions had now hardened into a conviction: Abu Nidal was not just an extreme rejectionist who sold his services to Arab regimes. Israel had gained control of him. That was the key to his persistent sabotage of Palestinian interests.

A former CIA officer, who had served as station head in several Arab countries and whose attitude toward the Arab-Israeli conflict was detached and professional, was more explicit: “It’s as easy,” he said, “to recruit the man at the top as it is someone lower down the ladder. It’s quite likely that Mossad picked up Abu Nidal in the late 1960s, when it was putting a lot of effort into penetrating the newly formed Palestinian guerrilla groups. My guess is that they would have got him in the Sudan when he was there with Fatah in 1969. Once they had set him up, funded, and directed him, he would have had nowhere else to turn. If he had tried to quit, he would have been a dead man.”

In Abu Iyad’s mind there was no great mystery about it: Israel wanted to destroy the PLO and prevent negotiations that might lead to a peaceful solution involving an autonomous Palestinian state on the West Bank. Any genuine negotiations would necessarily involve the surrender of territory, which is why Israel had gone to such lengths to persuade the world that the Palestinians were terrorists with whom no deal could be contemplated. Abu Nidal, he believed, was Israel’s prime instrument for this purpose, central to its strategy. Until Abu Nidal was exposed and defeated, he said, the PLO’s credibility would continue to be questioned and the peace process could get nowhere.

Robert Fisk reported that Nidal was a ‘US spy’ which seems to confirm Patrick Seale’s portrayal of him as a ‘gun for hire.’

Since 1972 we have come a long way in identifying Israeli false flags so considering the Mossad and assets, some of whom may have been ignorant of who they actually worked for, did Munich to further the demonizing of Palestinians and add to their myth of jews as eternal victims is plausible.

Israel’s response to Munich was Operation Wrath of God, a covert operation directed by Israel and its security agency, Mossad, to assassinate individuals alleged to have been directly or indirectly involved. To consider Munich as a false flag means that none of those assassinated had anything to do with it and was an excuse for Israel to kill Palestinians which  they look to do at every opportunity.

Steven Spielberg’s 2005 film Munich about the assassins was of course a piece of pro-Israel programing
and features Mossad agent Michael Harari who led the creation and direction of the assassination teams. Rumors are that Harari had a significant hand in the planning of 9/11 and also the Bali bombing. The source of the Harari and 9/11 links is Dimitri Khalezov so this rumor needs to be taken with a grain of salt. With or without Harari, Israel had a big hand in 9/11. Just ask some of the Israelis arrested that day.

Despite the best efforts of Obama and Congress it appears that there will be no memorial to the 11 Israeli victims of the 1972 Munich Olympic massacre during Friday’s opening ceremony in London. I’m surprised that there wasn’t a call to include a moment of silence for the holocau$t. Be sure to read the satirical piece by Ariadna Theokopoulos posted over at Richard Edmondson’s blog. I’m sure zionists hate satire directed at them. It cuts straight at their hypocrisy.

Speaking of false flags, Netanyahu asked for air time on Fox News so he could get his message in proximity to the Aurora massacre, a common technique in propaganda. Fox was glad to oblige his highness. He accused Iran, Hezbollah and maybe even Santa Claus and the Easter Bunny for the killing of Israeli tourists in Bulgaria last week. “Absolutely rock-solid intelligence” he says. If you can stomach it, here’s the video. Bibi also warns of chemical weapons in Syria that may get into the hands of Hezbollah if Damascus falls or that the Syrian government may use them on their own citizens. Now where have I heard something very similar to that before?

The Cause of World Unrest

History is a vast early warning system.
                     Norman Cousins

The 1920 American edition of “The Cause of World Unrest” {pdf} contains some things that could have been written today.{a working pdf link}

This book is anattempt to give an outline of the political aims and objectives of political Jewry. But a word of warning is necessary. Political Jewry does not comprise all Jewry. There are many Jewish citizens both in America and here who differ from the rest of us only in their religion. A blind Anti-Semitism directed against all Jews is both bad policy and an act of injustice to Jewry. But while we must be just, we must also be firm in our determination not to allow a duality of national policy in one and the same citizen.
                            H.A. GWYNNE,
                            Editor The Morning Post,
                            London. Sept. 1920

Note: I’m sure that this book was regarded as anti-semite in its day and would be today in many circles. The ‘duality of national policy’ could also apply to any number of ‘groups’ be they globalists, banker minions, neocons, neolibs or whatever term you choose. Basically it is those who pull the strings of a nation and act in ways that are not in the best interests of the majority of the people.

Those who have studied their history must at times have been astonished at the ease with which popular movements, honest and sincere in themselves, have been manipulated by clever and unscrupulous men to their own personal advantage or to further their own political aspirations. The people have throughout the ages presented a pathetic spectacle. Time and again they have been used with most barefaced effrontery as a means of producing results which they them- selves never desired. Indeed, in many cases, they have suffered terribly from their own achieve- ments. Nothing is more pitiful than the persistent betrayal of the people by their leaders and nothing more splendid than the people’s refusal to believe it.

A revolution is not the result of what we might call spontaneous social combustion but the result of design. Yet there is this caution to be made : a house does not spontaneously ignite, but it will bum fiercely if its materials are dry, combustible, and rotten. It will probably not catch fire at all if it is built of fireproof material and is inhabited by people who take proper precautions against fire. So with a nation; the social organization cannot be fanned into the flames of revolution, no matter what secret societies are at work, unless the conditions are favourable to revolution. The conditions favourable to revolution have been diagnosed by statesmen and by historians. They are not, properly speaking, the business of these papers, which was simply to look for the incendiary design, not to devise a fireproof house. Yet nevertheless we may suggest briefly the causes which predispose to revolution in all ages and in all nations.

Wars certainly, and in particular unsuccessful wars, which leave soldiers unemployed, and produce in men a fitness for desperate deeds, are one cause. Bad trade, which throws men upon the streets and leaves them idle and ripe for mischief, which makes thousands of men think that any change is better than present conditions — that is another cause. We shall find if we look into it that practically every revolution is preceded by a period of bad trade and unemployment. Bad harvests and scarcity of food, producing hunger and envy in the masses of the people, are another cause. Party rivalries and factions in the State, producing bands of men at enmity with the presiding Government, and willing to bring it down for their own purposes — these certainly constitute another cause. The character of the Government itself, whether it suppresses too much the common liberties of the nation, or, on the other side, is too indulgent with treason and crime, or, again, is inspired by impracticable ideals which bring the State to disaster — here we have still another cause of revolution. And extravagant ideas in the minds of the people, whether of liberty so great that it injures others, or of wealth so easy that it resembles plunder, these, too, may induce to revolution.

“The appalling thing,” says Lord Acton in his Essays on the French Revolution, “is not the tumult but the design. Through all the fire and smoke we perceive the evidence of calculating organization. The managers remain studiously concealed and masked, but there is no doubt about their presence from the first.”

Design and deception. It’s the first things to look for. Syria is the current ‘revolution’ du jour.

The U.S. and Syria: Facts you should know

…timeline reviews the progression of U.S.-NATO intervention in Syria and counteracts the Big Lie in the corporate media aimed at preparing open imperialist military aggression against the Syrian people.

From The Excavator

“Down with the Dictator,” is the CIA’s most popular Arab song at the moment. The CIA’s Syria song catalogue includes such hits as, “Assad, the Butcher,” “We Are The World, We Are The Children,” “Losing My Regime,” “Deception Song,” “Somebody To Hate,” “Will Get Fooled Again,” “Sympathy for the CIA,” “All Along Assad’s Tower,” “Give Syrians Shelter,” and “Hotel Bilderberg.”

Washington’s dance and song routine in Syria is far from new. It is a remix of its Libya and Iraq albums, which became instant international best sellers. But the CIA’s Syrian record has so far been a bust. The number of dupes willing to listen to the played out songs are down this time around.

In 1953 even the comics were warning us. They just didn’t identify the correct enemies.

“Two-thirds of my countrymen read this kind of newspaper, read things written in this tone every morning and every night, are every day worked up and admonished and incited, and robbed of their peace of mind and better feelings by them, and the end and aim of it all is to have the war over again, the next war that draws nearer and nearer, and it will be a good deal more horrible than the last. All that is perfectly clear and simple. Any one could comprehend it and reach the same conclusion after a moment’s reflection. But nobody wants to. Nobody wants to avoid the next war, nobody wants to spare himself and his children the next holocaust if this be the cost. To reflect for one moment, to examine himself for a while and ask what share he has in the world’s confusion and wickedness—look you, nobody wants to do that. And so there’s no stopping it, and the next war is being pushed on with enthusiasm by thousands upon thousands day by day. It has paralysed me since I knew it, and brought me to despair. I have no country and no ideals left.”

Conscientious Objector

Posted on Updated on

On June 20, 1967, federal Judge Joe Ingraham sentenced former heavyweight champion boxer Cassius Clay (though he had changed his name to Muhammad Ali on March 6, 1964) to five years in prison and a $10,000 fine for refusing to submit to U.S. Selective Service laws; it was the maximum sentence allowed.

Talking of his stance in objection to the Vietnam War, Ali did not pull any punches…..

“I ain’t got no quarrel with those Vietcong” and “no Vietcong ever called me nigger.”

“Why should they ask me to put on a uniform and go 10,000 miles from home and drop bombs and bullets on brown people in Vietnam, while so-called Negro people in Louisville are treated like dogs and denied simple human rights? No, I’m not going 10,000 miles from home to help murder and burn another poor nation simply to continue the domination of white slave masters of the darker people the world over.”

“This is the day when such evils must come to an end. I have been warned that to take such a stand would cost me millions of dollars. But I have said it once, and I will say it again. The real enemy of my people is here. … If I thought the war was going to bring freedom and equality to 22 million of my people, they wouldn’t have to draft me; I’d join tomorrow. I have nothing to lose by standing up for my beliefs. So I’ll go to jail, so what? We’ve been in jail for 400 years.”

“I ain’t draft dodging. I ain’t burning no flag. I ain’t running to Canada. I’m staying right here. You want to send me to jail? Fine, you go right ahead. I’ve been in jail for 400 years. I could be there for 4 or 5 more, but I ain’t going no 10,000 miles to help murder and kill other poor people. If I want to die, I’ll die right here, right now, fightin’ you, if I want to die. You my enemy, not no Chinese, no Vietcong, no Japanese. You my opposer when I want freedom. You my opposer when I want justice. You my opposer when I want equality. Want me to go somewhere and fight for you? You won’t even stand up for me right here in America, for my rights and my religious beliefs. You won’t even stand up for my right here at home. “

Ali was stripped of his boxing title, and his boxing license was suspended. He was not imprisoned, but did not fight again for nearly four years while his appeal worked its way up to the U.S. Supreme Court, where it was eventually successful.

The more things change, the more they remain the same. We have no forced draft today except for the economic one where many feel they have no options. We are still sending soldiers 10,000 miles to murder other poor people. The same few are profiting from the killing. We even go to war for foreign countries who are not our friends. The empire rolls on. Only the manufactured enemies change.

If there is one lesson to be learned from Ali’s life, it is that when we all refuse to blindly follow the lies of war…war just might end. You never know.

“War will exist until that distant day when the conscientious objector enjoys the same reputation and prestige that the warrior does today.

Near Eastern “Stonehenge”

The study of ancient civilizations, the origins of man, pre-history and how religions and their texts came to be are some of the most fascinating endeavors we can undertake.  The field contains many elements of truth as well as misinterpretations, mistranslations, misinformation, disinformation and charlatans out to make money from the gullible. Each individual so inclined needs to do his own research and come to his own conclusions or perhaps accept the very real possibility that we will never know the whole story.

One of the most interesting  figures in these studies is Zecharia Sitchin.  A most prolific researcher and writer, his popularity remains extensive even after his death in 2010. Below are some of Sitchin’s writings and related information in pdf format. One should keep in mind that Sitchin’s theories may be skewed by his Hebrew background but that should not deter us from taking a look at his work. Does what he had to say have relevance in today’s world? You be the judge.
